1989-1991 – Laid off

1989
Once home Perry finds a job in construction and our oldest son begins kindergarten. We move three times in the first 4 months.
Life is about work and occasionally visiting the churches near us to promote missions.
1990
We receive a letter officially reinstating us as missionaries.
We receive a second letter stating that we would not be allowed to return in September but, that because of a shortage of missionaries home on furlough, they need us to be available to visit churches and promote the work of missions. We are disappointed with the delay.

Just weeks after receiving this letter Perry’s father dies suddenly and we move in with Perry’s mother. This is a big help for her as she adjusts to life as a widow. All made possible by the delay in our return to Sierra Leone.
1991

We finally receive a letter approving our return to Sierra Leone in September. We also encourage Perry’s mother to consider coming to Sierra Leone and working at the school for missionary kids. Our two oldest will be attending this school in the next couple of years.

We are back in Sierra Leone. I am once again the principal of the Bible school and dealing with classes, farming, and construction. Nancy is once again supervising the dispensary, leading the student wives’ program and watching over the education of our children.
