Missive 31

Missive 31 2026-09-20

I am back from an exciting trip to Alaska and the privilege of sharing in an incredible vision for church planting among the Spanish speaking communities in the Northwest District of the Wesleyan church.

Mission Alaska – The Awaken church has an incredible vision for planting churches among Spanish speaking people. The first phase of this program is to plant a church in

Anchorage, Alaska. This is in process and has about 30 in attendance. They have two services. One Sunday Afternoon and the other Saturday evening. Juanfer and Mariana are leading this. The second phase is to establish a training center for those being called from Latin America to receive training in culture and ministry in North America. At this time Jose and Adriana are in Anchorage learning about life in the USA and learning English. Once the training center is set up then candidates from Latin America will come for a period of training which would lead to sending those selected from this group to be sent to a town in the Northwest District to begin planting a church. There is already one couple preparing to come for preparation this coming year.

I had the privilege of sitting down with these two couples and discussing all that would be involved in carrying out this plan as well as defining the steps involved in developing the program and selecting the candidates for training and posting. I also had the privilege of sharing in one of the services of the Awaken church as well as three of the meetings of the Hispanic church that meets there. The focus of those was on building a strong foundation that would open the door for discipling and having victory in our life as Christians.

Join me in prayer as they continue to move forward with this plan. Pray also for the Awaken Church and their Pastor Levi Smith and their role in making this vision possible.

Uganda – Leadership training – Thanks to a key donation I was able to send money to Rev Lucas Hamirie to print the manuals for this training event. The original plan was for me to travel to Uganda to hold training events in three locations. Due to the outbreak of Ebola in the region I had to cancel the trip (please be in prayer for our church in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Uganda and other countries being affected by this). I place of the meetings we have agreed to an alternative plan. It involves a video introduction related to a lesson in the manual titled “Called Willing and Prepared,” completion of the related lesson in the manual and then a zoom meeting for further discussion. Pray for this as the manuals are printed and distributed. Pray for me as this is the first time I have attempted presenting material in this format. Pray for those who will be involved that God will work in their lives. We hope to begin the lessons on a twice monthly basis starting the second week of October.

Side note: I was able to cancel the ticket and receive a partial refund of the cost. Thanks for you prayers related to this.

Books and materials –

Hubbard’s Hearth – we are now in journal entry 56 of the audio book A disciplemaker’s Journal. These are available on my facebook page.

Plantando Iglesias Tranculturalmente – I have finished recording this book and it will be posted soon for students in the online missions training program of Jibacam. The class will be starting in October.

Critical Issues of Relocation in Ministry – I have finished an 8 lesson series dealing with issues that affect a person when transitioning from one place to another in ministry. This will be a new course in the School of Missions – Jibacam.

Diary of a Disciplemaker: Mark – I have been working on a second series on discipleship. This time based on reflections on passages in the book of Mark. I hope to finish by the end of October.

Coming – The next big event will be the quadrennial regional conference for Iberoamerica – Please be in prayer for all the planning that will be involved.

Prayer request – Pray for Lucy Narvaez. She is a member of the Jibacam board and is dealing with a serious medical condition. She is on a waiting list for a surgery related to this concern.

As always thank you for your prayers and ongoing support. May God continue to bless the partnership he has given us over the years.

Blessings Perry J

Missive 20

2025-11-14 Missive 20
Greetings to  all,
I trust you are all doing well. We have enjoyed our first snowfall here but it didn’t last. Still it turned everything white and looked peaceful. A good sign as we enter the season of celebrating the coming of the one who brought peace to all mankind.
God is blessing and I have some great news.
New mission work in Iberoamerica.
1. Nicaragua – they have just sent a young lady as a missionary to Belize. Please be in prayer for her as she begins the process of getting settled and making contacts. I hope to have more details in the near future.
2. Costa Rica – A couple of young ladies will be traveling to Kenya for three months next year to explore the possibilities of future ministry and opportunities. I have been able to connect them with a key leader in the area from the Wesleyan Church there.
Other fields – I hope to be able to post more information about what is happening with all of the missionary bases soon. In the meantime here is a little.
1. Amazonas – they will be holding their first graduation of students in the pastoral training program in December. Pray for the students as they begin whatever ministry God is calling them to.
2. Spain – They are organizing a special opportunity for people to come and share in a short term missions event in Spain. Pray that God will call people and they all the planning will go smoothly.
Prayer points
1. Pray for the couple going to Alaska. They are ready to go but are waiting on approval of her visa.
2. Pray for me as I travel to Colombia next week to participate in the missionary awakening camp. The theme this year is conquering in Christ. Pray for the leaders as they deal with final preparations, for the campers that God will speak to them, and for me as I travel and share with them what God has laid on my heart.
3. Thank you for your prayers. I recently finished an eight week course on the Spiritual World with the Christian Missionary Alliance bible school in Buenos Aires. There were 24 students and it was truly a pleasure to be part of this opportunity. As a side note the men’s bible study I lead here chose to use one of the materials for the study. We have had some very good times of discussion and learning.
4. thank you for your prayers. I was able to finish writing the material on wellness. It is now being edited. My latino coworker in this material has begun the process of preparing practicums based on the material. We are also seeing great advances throughout the region in organizing the ministry teams to care for pastors and missionaries. This is very encouraging and a critical step in maintaining the health spiritually, emotionally, socially, as well as physically of those serving in these key areas of ministry.
Finances
Thank you for your generosity. It is making it possible for me to continue to share and teach in some very interesting settings. If you are interested in helping financially with my ministry see the footnote below.
Long range –
Uganda – I had a very productive conversation with the national leader. Pray for everything that will be involved in meeting some key educational needs for pastors and youth in the country.
Quadrennial regional conference – plans are well underway for this combined event. The regional conference of Iberoamerica and the missions congress which will be held in Osorno, Chile in November of 2026.
I could fill more space with all that God is doing and will try to include more in the next letters. Also be sure to check out  the phministry.org site as well. I am hoping that soon you will be able to sign up to receive automatic notices when new items appear on the website.
May God continue to bless as we unite in carrying out the work given to us of reaching everywhere with the Good News.

Missive Prayer request – 2025-05-11

I have two important prayer requests for you today.

  1. Cristian and Paula along with their daughter are on their way to Spain to serve as missionaries from Iberoamerica. They will land sometime later today. Pray with me that God will lead them as they start the work they have been given of planting churches and establishing a retreat and training center for missionaries heading to Europe and North Africa.
  2. Uganda – Today I sent a note to the national leader of our church in Uganda expressing my willingness to do more teaching on missions for our churches there. Please be in prayer for God’s guidance in the process of working out the details. I have suggested a date of September 2026.

Thank you for your prayers and support.
